The project gives to Moulins the opportunity to improve its relationship with the environment. Nature, from element “other” and opposite to built context, becomes instead infrastructure, structuring element, widespread and founding of the city: the park on the Allier banks, tree-lined streets, farmlands and woodlands, gardens and educational farms, green roofs and green walls, biopools and reservoirs of water collection.
Adding the development of sustainable mobility (roads devoted to slow flow, public or shared transport and pedestrian/cycle lanes), and a diffused technologic infrastructure for the production of local and renewable energy (geothermic, photovoltaic and hydroelectric integrated not just in buildings but as part of public space), the outcome scenario is a more beautiful, safer and livable, more human sized city. |
