MECHANICAL AND MATERIALS LABORATORY / INAUGURATION |
|
|
13 / 02 / 2018
Paralleloa was asked to restructure the mechanical and materials laboratory, in the context of the renewal of the center for research and innovation of the engineering school Mines ParisTech, after they had designed the coworking space La Bulle Électrique. Built in 1916, the room has undergone various interventions. Our project seeks to highlight some of the room's original charismatic features, such as its large windows, metal ceiling beams and heigh ceiling. |

In this room engineers research systems and algorithms for organizing huge amounts of data. A new suspended dismantable mezzanine holds a meeting space surrounded by technical books stored on thin white bookshelves. Three cables and three beams hold in place a 35mm thin laminated beech lumber floor, pigmented with a transparent blueish grey finish. Notes of color are bestowed by serene green chairs and linear suspended light fixtures. |

A section of a corridor on a floor of office rooms is partitioned by wooden screens, offering employees a space to have a coffee break or lunch. Lining the wall, beneath large windows, benches, tables and cabinets made of metal and painted birch compose a narrow colorful space where to take some time off work. |

Versatile and modular, this system for building furniture is composed of wooden surfaces framed by a metal structure. A simple method of assembly turns frames and planes into tables, benches, drawers, and shelves. Height, width and the amount of divisions and drawers are variable. A hand painted transparent color finish enhances the natural lines in the wood and enlivens the space in which the furniture dwells. |

This coworking space, located in a historic Parisian engineering school, provides students with a place to work on new products, services and start-ups. Two concepts inspired the transformation of an ordinary classroom: energy and transparency, embodied by the colors yellow and blue. |

Reminiscent of the shape of lightning, these light suspensions bring rhythm and movement to a room. Wooden profiles tinted in white are held together by a modular metal structure which allows for zig zags of different lengths. Inazuma floats perpendicular to the ceiling whereas it's variant, Lyn, is suspended parallel. Besides offering light when daylight is gone, these lamps add playfulness and rhythm to the space they are a part of. |

A small space in the Sainte Marthe quarter in Paris was redesigned to accommodate a photography gallery. The glass façade facing the street opens entirely by means of a pivoting door. When the door is open, a portion of it exceeds outside, becoming a surface for the banner of the current exhibition. |

CO-WORKING & PRE-INCUBATION / MINES PARISTECH / AWARD |
|
|
21 / 04 / 2015
Our aim is to create a space adapted to the students needs; furniture adapted to their work patterns, a pleasant environment to allow they to deploy their talents. Their creative dynamism should be visible and expressed though choice of materials, furniture and colors, and also visible by the exterior by creating a visual identity based on codes observed within the school Mines ParisTech. |
